Great location; good value
We loved the location, the helpful staff, and the view from our room. There were great little restaurants within easy walking distance; landmarks, museums, shopping centers, and parks a bit further but still walking distance for most travelers. This place laid out the most impressive breakfast we saw on our 18 day trip. We were very satisfied with our experience at the Rossi, overlooking the beds since we did not not find a comfortable one any place we stayed in Russia.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal.

I dont know what other hotels in St Petersburg are like
We (a married couple in our late 60’s) stayed in a standard double room at this hotel for five nights in June 2015 as part of a private tour of St Petersburg.
The room was on the fifth floor in a separate section of the hotel, attached to the main part of the hotel by an entrance on the fourth floor. So, to get to our room, we had to take the lift to the fourth floor, walk along a corridor to the door to the separate section, use our room keycard to enter (and exit) the separate section, then take the stairs to the fifth floor. Not a big problem, except when you have to carry the large suitcases we had for one months travel through Europe. Definitely a big problem when you are leaving and your keycards have been prematurely deactivated. The room had a view of the hotels storage courtyard area and was large enough for us and two large suitcases. The room was clean, we were able to use the minibar to store medicine which had to be kept cool, the air conditioning worked well and there was a safe. The free WiFi was easy to use and worked well. There was separate toilet cubicle. The shower and washbasin were separated from the room by glass panels (the main one covered by a thin curtain and with the TV mounted in front of it) and a sliding glass door. As is not unusual, there were no coffee-making facilities, but I was prepared for this with my portable water boiler and stainless steel mugs. The staff were friendly and helpful, arranging a car to take us to the ballet and helping us with our luggage. However, the young gentleman at the desk when we checked out would benefit from more lessons in handling customer complaints, arrogantly declaring that it was impossible that our room keycards had been deactivated before we checked out (they were, and we could not re-enter our room to get our remaining luggage or leave our section of the hotel until we found a helpful cleaner). Breakfast was included, and catered for all tastes. Several times we took advantage of having freshly cooked eggs or an omelette. However, more needs to be done to keep food warm: two spirit burners are not enough to keep warm sausages, bacon and scrambled eggs in a large stainless steel tray…
