Peter the Great ordered that "No Building, excluding churches, shall be taller that the winter palace". Because of this, when you clamber up to one of the roofs of Petersburg, you can see a stupendous panoramic view of the Northern capital.
We'll visit two roofs in different neighborhoods, hear "roofers" stories, and take some excellent pictures of the breathtaking views of the city center. And you'll hear all about the interesting
places you can see from these places.

The wealthy residents would leave the building directly from the stair well, but the servants all came in through the court yard. At the end of the 19th century, architects took another look at Petersburg's court yards. This is how the complicated and unusual court-yard mazes came into existence.
The court yards of Petersburg are a city inside a city. They are practically invisible from the main streets. Here you'll see open terraces and
architectural columns.

in communal apartments, unofficial sculptures, and comfortable squares.
