places you can see from these places.

Mysterious
Well-Like Courtyards

Even the most beautiful facades hide the gloomy court yards that Dostoyevsky, Blok, and Pushkin used to inspire their creativity. The wealthy residents would leave the building directly from the stair well, but the servants all came in through the court yard. At the end of the 19th century, architects took another look at Petersburg's court yards. This is how the complicated and unusual court-yard mazes came into existence.

The court yards of Petersburg are a city inside a city. They are practically invisible from the main streets. Here you'll see open terraces and

architectural columns.
But you'll also see real graffiti
and the life styles of people living
in communal apartments, unofficial sculptures, and comfortable squares.

On this walking tour you'll see
a number of different court yards,
including «Architectural yards»,
«Dostoyevsky's yards», «Court Yards
with Bats» and many more.

Tour lasts 2 hours.
